FSX Flights - The Heavies

A collection of some of the recent large aircraft routes I've flown.  Combination of the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 777-200.  Both very large but well built aircraft.  I seem to be much better with the A380 than the 777 as you will see in the videos.  I will start with a very harrowing adventure in the A380 from Dubai to Mumbai.  It was a uneventful flight until I reached India and began the approach to Mumbai.  Seems the IFR was cancelled out mid-approach, not sure why still.  So I decided to visually fly the approach which I've done before in other aircraft.  Usually smaller aircraft.  Oh, did I mention it was in extremely poor visibility and a downpour.  Of course my brilliant piloting saved the day and made the landing without a hitch.  haha.

Altitude: 31000ft
Speed: 310kts
Distance: 1,204 miles
Flight Time: 2hr 54min
Landing: ILS/VFR Rwy 27

As I said the landing was tricky as you will see in the video.  A bit left of center and touched the wheels down a tad before the numbers but still much better than expected.

The next flight will be the American Airlines 777-200 from San Francisco to Honolulu.  A long flight which must have made me lose my touch on the landing or so I like to think.  Well I will let the debacle of a landing speak for itself.

Altitude: 32000ft
Speed: 312kts
Distance: 2,397 miles
Flight Time: 5hr
Landing: ILS Rwy 4R

As you can see in the first video I drifted way too far down the runway.  It didn't quite descend as fast as I thought.  Not blaming the surface gust but it did look like it kicked up a bit on approach.  The end of runway view video will show just how crooked I came in and how I twisted to correct.  One of my worst landings.  Should have went around.

Finally another A380 flight, this one from Incheon Intl Airport in Korea to Beijing.  Only an hour and 37 minute flight but both airports handle large aircraft like this well.  Everything went pretty textbook even the landing.  It was hazy over Beijing so really not much to see.

Altitude: 30000ft
Speed: 315kts
Distance: 593miles
Flight Time: 1hr 37min
Landing: ILS Rwy 01

Some good view on the landing.  Landing Gear view and a chase camera view.

Bonus Video:  British Airways 757-200 Landing in Larnaca, Cypress. Almost shorted the runway but a little throttle helped.
